Beauty, Fully Made
By: Abe Sierra Jr.
We are beautifully made
Our veins
Roots that connect to an ancestry of ache
Yet a heritage of hope
Our lungs
Although polluted by this pilgrimage through life
Still produce enough breath to share
With those who cannot breathe on their own
Our eyes are windows
Windows facing toward a future hope
These words
Words barely spoken on our side of the tracks
Keep reciting them
Until they become our heart’s favorite song
Today tomorrow and all the days after
These words...
...Speak them to the mirror:
We are beauty, fully made.
